This work tells some of the story of the global year from 1st February 2022 to the 31st January 2023, intermingled with the engagements of my own life.
Each face, created with detritus from the gutter, represents my thoughts or reactions to the days’ news. Behind these images are headlines or comments from that date, rather hard to discern, as the truth sometimes is.
I worked on this piece one day at a time throughout the year of Feb 1 2022 – Jan 31st 2023. That year unfolded as an extraordinary one. It included the invasion of Ukraine by Putin, the death of Queen Elizabeth II, political unrest, famine and extreme weather events across the globe.
